The Journey of National MSME Day

Today, August 12, is commemorated as the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day. This date was chosen to coincide with the birthday of the Father of Indonesian Cooperatives, Bung Hatta. The date was set to honor Bung Hatta’s role as an influential figure in the Indonesian people’s economy.

According to Metro.suara.com, the National MSME Day journey began with the National MSME Congress and the 2nd National Meeting of Companions (TNP 2) on May 25-26 2016. The National MSME Day was then held for the first time in Yogyakarta with various activities from cooperation Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) MSME Cooperative Service, and DIY Regional Korwil ABDSI. On that occasion, 12 figures read the declaration of the National MSME Day together. The reading of the declaration was led by the then Head of the DIY UKM Cooperative Service, Tri Saktiyana.

To welcome the special day, Google together with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises will provide a number of training sessions for MSME actors in 10 provinces. Reported by Kompas.com, training also include content strategy and digital marketing. Starting from how to set up e-commerce, how to stay safe online, to how to get your business registered and appear on Google Search and Google Maps.

“For National MSME Day 2022, we are delighted to be able to expand our training program to East Java, West Java, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and several other provinces,” said Putri Alam, Director of Government Relations and Public Policy at Google Indonesia ( 11/08/2022).

The training will also be held offline using various training modules based on the Grow with Google (GWG) program. The training participants are SME actors under the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs and register for the training.

“We understand the needs of small businesses there to find customers and will work closely with the Ministry of Cooperatives to help thousands of small businesses go online and be ready to welcome the trading era in the future,” he added.
