The Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan explained that the synergy between ministries and business actors was needed to encourage the marketing of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) products more broadly. The synergy effort that’s being prepared is to present an Indonesian hypermarket in Saudi Arabia. The presence of this hypermarket is expected to encourage the marketing of Indonesian MSME products abroad.
“One of the efforts that we do to help the marketing of MSMEs is by presenting hypermarkets in a number of cities in Saudi Arabia, such as Jeddah, Mecca and Medina. With the Indonesian hypermarket, Indonesian MSME products will be easier to enter the Arab market Saudi Arabia,” said Zulkifli Hasan at the Inauguration of the Jakarta Halal Hub MSMEs at Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta (1/10).
On that occasion, Zulkifli Hasan also committed to fully supporting the MSME Halal Hub initiated by Goorita, especially on matters that must be considered in participating in the export market. Starting from quality, quantity, capital, sustainability, and skills. This was thoroughly considered as the export market is a big and tough job for MSMEs alone.
“For this reason, we appreciate the efforts made by Goorita by hoping that the Halal Hub MSMEs can be a catalyst for Indonesian MSMEs so that they can play a greater role in the international market and in particular can also realize Indonesia as a World Halal Producer Center,” he added.
Saudi Arabia was chosen as the location for this synergy business based on its background as a strategic partner for Indonesia. Especially for processed food products, Saudi Arabia occupies the 8th position as the export destination for Indonesian processed food products. The trend of Indonesian exports to Saudi Arabia in the 2017-2021 period increased 4.61 percent. The main products that Indonesia exports to Saudi Arabia include tuna, instant noodles, chili sauce, soy sauce, biscuits and wafers.
In addition, the inauguration of the MSME Halal Hub in Jakarta was also attended by Special Staff to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Lukmanul Hakim, CEO Goorita and Global Head of Halal Hub Yuwono Wicaksono, as well as Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade Suhanto and Director General of National Export Development Didi Sumedi. The event was also attended virtually by the Indonesian Consul General in Jeddah, Eko Hartono, and the Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Jeddah, Muhammad Rivai Abbas.
