Coordinator for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the public to shop for domestic products to encourage MSME products. Luhut also gave direct directions to ministries and local governments to realize domestic product spending. With hope, that MSME product spending reaches a minimum of 40 percent of the total budget.
“Don’t forget to shop! We are shopping because we will mobilize MSMEs in our respective places. That is our contribution to the environment and to our country,” said luhut in a virtual speech at the North Maluku National Movement for Proud of Indonesia (Gernas BBI) 2022 which was held at Fort Oranje, Ternate, North Maluku (13/10/2022).
Reported by bisnis.tempo.co, Luhut explained that currently Rp 480 trillion budget has been realized from the Rp 950 trillion commitment. He said that the government is targeting more than 90 percent of PDN spending to be realized or more than Rp 800 trillion. He encouraged that the target can be realized also in North Maluku which is still relatively low. For example, the realization of PDN spending in Morotai Island Regency only reached 28.35 percent on 10th October 2022.
“For the record, the realization of the province itself is still below 1 percent. For that, Mr. Governor, this must be your attention, as well as all Regents, Mayors. Accelerate the realization of PDN spending so that people’s economic movements occur,” he said.
Luhut also reminded that local governments should continue to encourage MSMEs to join and create regional e-catalogs. This push towards digital is expected to increase efficiency and transparency in government spending.
“This is where our opportunity to encourage MSME partners including BUMDes to expand into the government market segment. I believe, under the leadership of the Governor and supported by all local governments, regents and mayors and all officials, we will work hand in hand to face the world economic turmoil which of course can hit us,” Luhut added.
