Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki emphasized the importance of data security and trust for economic digitization activities. Especially in the digital onboarding process for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), so it can prevent data misuse, fraud, and so on.
“Currently adapting to digital transformation is the key for MSMEs to be more resilient. It is recorded that 86 percent of MSME actors depend on the internet to run their business activities, 73 percent have accounts at digital marketplaces, and 82 percent promote via the internet. For this reason, it is necessary to guarantee protection for their activities. MSME economy,” said Teten in an official statement (24/5/2022).

This effort is expected to be useful in protecting the domestic e-commerce industry, consumers, and MSME actors. He also said that safe digital economic activities also encourage the achievement of financial inclusion. With this effort, MSMEs can get real benefits, such as easier access to financial services and a better understanding of digital literacy.
“Digitalization certainly helps MSMEs in increasing competitiveness, developing businesses, and becoming the foundation for Indonesia to optimize its economic potential,” he explained.
Based on McKinsey Research, sales can increase by up to 60 percent if you do it through e-commerce and sociocommerce. Not only that, in terms of financial services, the total value of loans in fintech reached Rp 19.06 trillion. This can supports the financial inclusion target in 2021.
“Of course, we at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs strongly support the progress of fintech, for example, in providing loans to MSMEs. Considering that banks are still approaching through collateral which is often difficult. Banks should be able to take advantage of various credit scoring application services that are a reference rather than collateral. Besides that, we also encourage MSMEs to have a business plan and digital records,” Teten added.
According to the Directorate General of Aptika Kominfo, Semuel Abrijani explained the Covid-19 pandemic has changed aspects of people’s lives in the world through digitalization. In Indonesia, internet users have grown to 210 million people or about 77 percent of the total population of the country. Samuel also added that the Communications and Information Technology encourages the preparation of a digital framework that builds digital trust and competent digital human resources.
