Miss Universe Alia Guindi is present at the Tulungagung Batik Fashion Show catwalk. The event was also attended by more than 140 models. They demonstrated various Tulungagung batik designs with various themes and creations.
According to detik.com, Slamet Sunarto, The Head of the Cooperatives and Micro Enterprise Office of Tulungagung Regency, welcomed the event. He said that the fashion show was an attempt to introduce Tulungagung batik to the international level.
“We are showing this Tulungagung batik in the hope that it can go international. Because at this event we also have special guests from Miss Universe Switzerland 2022,” he said (23/11/2022).
Slamet also explained that the local Tulungagung batik industry was growing. He saw that entrepreneurs and batik artisans are interested in producing creations with batik. This interest will be supported by the local government through various coaching programs. So that they can continue to be enthusiastic and build micro, small, and middle enterprise (MSMEs) from this industry.
“The batik displayed in the fashion show this time is the work of Tulungagung batik artisans,” he stated.
One of the participants in the fashion show, Zahara Venanda, wore a batik dress with Javanese Eagle theme and combined with Tulungagung batik cloth. She hopes that these creations can increase people’s interest in batik fashion.
“Hopefully Tulungagung batik will continue to grow and be sustainable,” said Zahara.
