There are more than 1.000 products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Central Kalimantan that have halal labels. This was conveyed by the Halal Product Process Assistance Institute (LP3H) of the State Islamic Religious Institute (IAIN) Palangka Raya.
“From 2022, LP3H IAIN Palangka Raya have registered more than 1,000 UKM products from Central Kalimantan to obtain a halal label.” said the Head of the Center for Halal Studies LP3H IAIN Palangka Raya Dr. Atin Supriatin (04/07/2023).
According to antaranews.com, Atin said that halal certification for circulating products is no longer an option, but a necessity. This refers to Law No. 33 of 2014, with one of its derivatives PP No. 39 of 2021.
“In accordance with Government Regulations Number 31 of 2019 and Number 39 of 2022. Products that are required to have halal certificates are food, beverages, medicines and cosmetics,” said Atin.
Products with halal certificates make it easier for consumers to buy products that comply with Islamic law. Halal certificates also provide guarantees for business actors to market their products without any suspicion.
“We (LP3H IAIN Palangkaraya) continue to encourage MSMEs in Central Kalimantan. So there is no need to hesitate to register their products to get halal certification.” added Arin.
Halal Certificate Assistance
She explained that LP3H IAIN Palangka Raya will provide free halal certification assistance. This assistance will target products that do not contain slaughtered animals.
“For products containing slaughtered animals, they register them through the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH). So, there is a separate fee,” she said.
There are several requirements that must be prepared. Among them are having a Business Identification Number (NIB), photocopy of KTP and NIK, name and type of product. Continued with a list of products and materials used, the product management process, having an SPP-IRT certificate, and filling out the online registration form.
